MIIT: Textile Industry Operation in January-June 2020

From January to June, the industrial value added of enterprises above the scale of China's textile industry fell 6.7 percent year-on-year, 9.8 percentage points narrower than the first quarter of the decline, of which the industrial textile manufactured goods manufacturing industry by the surge in demand for epidemic prevention materials, industrial value added was 57.8 percent high growth, June month-on-year growth rate of up to 80.7 percent. From January to June, the output of chemical fiber, yarn, cloth and clothing decreased by 1.0, 15.8, 25.9 and 13.7 respectively. From January to June, the retail sales of clothing, shoes, hats, and knitting textiles of units above the national quota were 512 billion billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 19.6 percent, and the rate of decline narrowed by 3.9 percentage points from January to May. Retail sales of online wear goods fell 2.9 percent year-on-year. From January to June, China's textile and clothing exports 125.19 billion billion US dollars, an increase of 3.2 percent over the same period last year, an increase of 20.9 percentage points over the first quarter. Among them, due to the mask and other epidemic prevention textile exports increased significantly, textile exports of 74.1 billion billion U.S. dollars, up 27.8 percent year-on-year, but clothing exports by overseas epidemics, clothing exports of 51.08 billion billion U.S. dollars, down 19.4 percent year-on-year. From January to June, textile enterprises above designated size achieved operating income of 1926.07 billion billion yuan, down 16.4 percent from the same period last year, and total profits of 73.1 billion billion yuan, down 19 percent from the same period last year. The operating income margin was 3.8 per cent, up 1.2 percentage points from the first quarter.
